Licorice or Liquorice has proven to be the most valuable plant throughout history. A reliable medicine passed on by our ancestors and now a dependable product for food and cosmetic industry. A resilient perennial spanning from southern Europe to Mediterranean region to Iran, Afghanistan and China.
Having abundant supply of licorice in Iran, Kerman Licorice had been able to establish a manufacturing facility and has been developing its capacity and quality of licorice products for over 10 years . It is situated in Town of Kerman where plenty of wild licorice is available. We work closely with local offices of forestry and ranges in responsible harvest of this precious plant to make sure preservation of species and erosion control. The main species of Glycyrrhiza is glabra. The part used to manufacture licorice powder is the below ground stolons or runners commonly referred to as roots.
Harvesting
Harvest is in autumn when above ground part has ceased photosynthesis. Dry roots are crushed and extracted in kettles then extract is evaporated making it ready to make licorice blocks or spray dried powder.
Quality & Certification
We manufacture solely licorice products using roots collected from wild free from herbicide and fertilizer amendments therefore we are successfully certified ORGANIC producer of licorice products from a European institution. The wild growth of licorice ensures GMO free material as well as wholesomeness of licorice, since production is solely dedicated to licorice, allergen aspect of our product is easily met.
